Renovated Old Estate Featuring Multiple Backyard Patio/Entertainment Areas

Renovated Old Estate Featuring Multiple Backyard Patio Entertainment Areas| Earth, Turf, & Wood | Southeastern PennsylvaniaProject Cost Level $$$$

Project overview:

Dining patio, cigar patio, entertainment patio, fire pit area.

What client wanted the space to accomplish:

The client was renovating an existing old estate and wanted to create a back yard space that incorporated various entertainment, dining and living spaces. It was important that the design matched the house design and fit the available area well, as space was limited.

Innovative ideas/concepts Earth, Turf, & Wood brought to the table:

A 3/D design was created to help the client visualize how the space would look upon completion.

Various existing stones were incorporated into the new patio design. The driveway was reshaped to allow trees and raised beds to be put into place to provide privacy screening.

An unusable basement door was blocked off and a water feature was incorporated into the space as a creative way to integrate the closed off area into the design.

Notable design/construction challenges:

The space in the back yard was limited and grade issues had to be dealt with to incorporate the desired design. Retaining walls were built to solve grade issues. The retaining wall stones had to be carefully matched to the house stones to create a unified look. Drainage issues were solved.

The design ideas provided by the client were somewhat more expansive than the available space, but the look was incorporated effectively into a small space.

A substructure for a future pergola was incorporated into the design to save on future construction costs.
